Confidentiality

The detail of a child’s session is normally kept private between child and myself, and this helps to build and maintain a relationship within which feelings the child may find worrying or upsetting can be talked about and understood. Parents are kept in touch with the therapy’s progress via the parent feedback sessions and the reviews.

The only exception to this would be if I were to become concerned about the child’s safety. This would be discussed with parents as a matter of urgency, following discussion with the child or young person about the need to talk with parents or carers. As a BACP registered practitioner, I adhere to the BACP’s Code of Ethics and Professional Practice.
